The Philoptochos is an organization dedicated to philanthropic endeavors here in Toronto and around the world. The word “Philoptochos” means “friend of the poor”. Comprised entirely of women, the Philoptochos is an integral part of the church community, being the second largest women’s organization in the world. Philoptochos is volunteer-driven and initiates or supports many church activities and charitable projects. . If you know that we exist, but have only a vague idea of what we do, then we can’t grow as an organization. It is important for Philoptochos to be front and centre in the minds of our parishioners, and for you to know how important we are to the life of our church.

In addition to hosting the annual Christmas bazaar, they also prepare for memorial services, and sell tsourekia at Easter among many other things. VIP senior lunches occur the first Tuesday of every month at the community centre. Any profits made from their activities go to support the poor, and those who are in need. The backbone of the church, the Philoptochos does wonderful work, and we are ever grateful for their efforts. Here at All Saints, the Philoptochos embodies the principles of a Greek Orthodox ministry while offering support, assistance and encouragement to all in need. An important goal for us is to increase awareness of Philoptochos and its many activities.
Philoptochos is open to all women, eighteen years old and over, who are of the Orthodox faith. If you would like to become a steward of Philoptochos, please contact Diana Mandalentsis through the church office at (416) 221-4611 or by email at email@example.com
“Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?”
